my wife. I think it was in the mid 90's and we were gambling at the Hard Rock. Cathy has been around chip collecting for about 30 years but did not really know how casino chips were used back then, she does not play table games. We both liked the hard rock and she knew that I liked their chips. I was playing blackjack and she was playing video poker. She hit a 25c progressive for around $1,600. She thought it would be a nice surprise present to get me a few Hard Rock chips. She went to a roulette table and asked how much for the chips, they said you could play for $1 each. So she gave them $40 and got 40 pink chips with gold flames, played a few spins and left with 35 pink chips. I was still playing blackjack and she went back to video poker we had not seen each other for a few hours. She took a little break from video poker and went back to get a different color. She did the same thing bought in for $40 and this time got 40 purple chips with gold flames, played a few spins and left with a pile of purple chips. She now had to put the purple chips in another part of her purse because she had so many chips. She went back to playing video poker and 5 minutes later a pit boss approached her and asked if she had some purple chips from the roulette table and she said yes. He explained how they were to be used only at the roulette table and he would take her back to the table so she could cash them in. She was so nervous walking back to the roulette table because he did not ask about the pink chips and she wanted to keep them for me. She cashed in the purple chips and went to search for me. When she found me she said we have to leave right now. So I cashed in and we left. When we got in the car she said "I did not want them to get these" and pulled out the 35 pink roulette chips from her purse and told me the story as we were driving away. I think she still loves me. I still have 31 chips left.
Having fun Steve
