I was on active duty (U.S. Air Force) in 1968 at Andrews AFB in Maryland and a member of the Command bowling team. We bowled in the Worldwide Military Classic at the Showboat and I started picking up some lower denomination chips from different casinos. I returned almost every year from various bases and turned pro in 1985. I entered the Showboat Open as a Senior PBA member and became a frenzied chip collector during those years. Cannot say whether or not my main reason for going to Las Vegas was chipping or bowling. When I joined our club (1989 or 1990), my "accumulation" numbered over one thousand. Several years ago, I saw the light and realized that I could not collect everything. Now I specialize in just a few areas. It has been great fun and you meet the most interesting people.
