Pop's Oasis...a thought

When we dug there last week,we were told to leave by a very polite gentleman. He told us that he "could understand what we were doing" but was nice enough to simply tell us that this was private property and that we would have to leave. It was very amicable.
He treated us with respect and we treated him the same way. If this property was posted we would have never gone there.Right or wrong...to me...it was just a big ole empty lot.As a metal detector enthusiast,I am aware of poking around on personal property without seeking permission. Many times over the years I have tracked down the owners of posted property to ask their permission to metal detect or even bottle dig around old out buildings and have only been turned down one time out of perhaps 30 times. This particular guy was ok with us.....so all of this arguing and bickering seems to be redundant as no one is allowed there anymore anyway. As it was rocky, sandy desert, nothing was destroyed except perhaps our backs. It's over and done. HOWEVER......it doesn't have to be that way:

I mentioned this before:Is it possible as a club to arrange, with the owners, some time to "dig" the site, with the nicer items perhaps going to the museum and some of the other found items to perhaps go to the owners of the property for them to use as they wish. Anything left over could go to the members who participate,OR....even better, the items found could be sold on eBay or to collectors and the money raised could either go to a charity or to some other worthy cause.
Instead of whining and arguing over what is over and done with...why not try to turn this into something constructive and positive?
Think of the publicity for the club and the think of the publicity for the hobby if the proceeds of the dig went to a worthy cause. I am sure that there are several members out there who would participate. Hell...I might even fly in for a two day dig. It would work even better if the property was going to be developed and the dig was set up a few days before that development began as the site would then have to be prepared anyway.Who knows? It is an idea and I know that if I lived in Vegas and had some pull with the club that I would do my best to make it legally work.
Metal detector clubs do this all of the time and everyone has a blast.
Perhaps we should stop with the exceptionally rude comments and try to figure out how to turn this into a win win event for us all?
What do we have to lose?
