I don't know if Mike was given the opportunity to "step down" ... as you put it. Surely, it would have been much better if this was a voluntary action on Mike's part. I (and many others) simply think that the 'timing' of Mike's dismissal would have been much better received if this action was taken WELL AFTER the convention was over ... like a week or two later ... or whenever next year's convention dates and hotel site are announced along with the naming of a new Convention Chair. I don't even recall if appreciation plaques were publicly awarded to Mike & Dawn for all their hard work on the membership's behalf that they put into this year's convention as Co-Chairs.
