There is a certain level of risk in this proposal, but I have done it twice (from AC and Orlando/Tampa):
I bring a flat rate priority mail box with me, pre-addressed to my post office box. I stuff it with the less valuable chips - which can be quite heavy, as you know. Of course, every city has a post office in the heart of its business district. It costs about $9 to mail the box.

When I ran out of money in AC, I also used a debit card at the post office to pay for postage and could get cash back without having to pay ATM fees!

With airlines charging for overweight baggage or even for checked baggage (while limiting the number of carry-ons), this may be a financially attractive alternative while also posing less risk of inspection loss.

Higher lue chips stay in my carry-on or my pockets.
