I've been shuffling checks for about 15 years. I put my thumb and my first finger on the left stack, my ring finger and my little finger on the right stack, and I put my middle finger in between and use it to lift.
The one piece of advice I remember getting that made it fall into place was to let the chips do the work. Just lift, don't try and force them to shuffle. They'll do it on their own.
I tried Gene's way, it took a couple of tries. I'm going back to my way, though. Old habits...
