Everything turned out OK in that regard but two days later details are emerging VERY SLOWLY from our son concerning himself and our house. After talking to him over the telephone we have found out that he had a near miss with being struck by lightning AND our house has apparently been struck by lightning. He and some of his co-workers were behind his place of employment (Applebee's) watching the "mothership shaped" tornadic super cell move through the area since most of their customers had left or were in the back of the restaurant with them. All of a sudden he got really light headed and his hair stood on end. At that same time there was a bright flash and an immediate clap of thunder. He quickly ran inside where his co-workers who had been watching him told him that they could see a lot of static electricity all around his head and torso. I found this out last night over a day after the fact.
During the storm I was trying to call my home phone to see if the answering machine would pick up my call which would tell me if the electricity was on or not. All I got was a busy signal. Tonight, 2 nights after the storm it is still busy. I called my son to ask about it and he tells me "oh yea, the phones aren't working; neither is the DSL." So I am fairly sure my house has been struck! Teenagers!
So I guess when I get back I have a problem to take care of and I am not even sure where to start! Anyone had any experience with lightning striking their homes? Man I am tired of all this bad weather we have been having!
Cheers!
Bill
