Jim,
John Huxley took the first step recently in getting
Nevada (and other areas) approval to market devices
to use slot machine technology to draw more players
to the tables.
The state Gaming Control Board recommended a
distributors' license for John Huxly Casino
Equipment LTD. to introduce the products for testing
on location.
Table games once accounted for most of the revenue
for Nevada's casinos, and over the years that has
shifted to a 60/40 edge for slots.
Huxley is showing the industry that by putting slot
technology such as bells, flashing lights, graphics;
bonus awards and other come-ons into the games will
create a more exciting environment. They're
planning table mounted audio video screens that can
produce random awards, lottery-style prizes, side
bets and even betting instructions as the games are
in progress.
Dealers will still be in most of the games, but
Huxley (and other groups) are also showing the
industry how Roulette balls can be set in motion to
speed up the game and calling "no more bets, please. Huxley is also showing the industey
how cards can be dealt to players...and even
speeding up deck shuffling so more hands can be
played.
Some call this progress...and some call it "Grab
their money as soon as they walk in the door."
