So here's a question that I've decided to poll you folks with:
What should be in my CD player for the start of my trip, Frank Sinatra or Elvis Presely?
Last year I did Elvis and it was a great way to start a trip to Las Vegas. I-84 in the moonlight, negligable traffic and the Columbia River consantly at my left. A large coffee in the cup holder but when you're wound up like a ferret on meth waiting to pull up to the Riviera, fatigue is 12 days away.
Sinatra and Vegas is a no-brainer (fits me!) because of the Sands, Rat-Pack, and getting his teeth knocked out but the story of Elvis and Las Vegas in his "King" incarnation is just as interesting if not as widely known.
I'll switch up to George Thurogood (spellun stinks) when I start winding up and down the Blues (them's mountains out here)and past that spot where I hit the elk with the formaldahyde A-train. Something from James Taylor so I don't start ramming folks during the Boise rush hour and James McMrtry stuff when the wide-open of Nevada fills the windshield.
What would put you in the mood at the start of a Vegas trip, Ol Blue Eyes or that Pelvis feller?
