Now if someone with deep pockets wants to buy the items and donate them to the club, now that is a different matter.
Look at at the Treasurer's Report, should we spend 1/5 of our clubs revenue on these items. Or better yet, 1/2 of the Museum fund on the items.
If the club had a few million in the bank and we had a Museum, then it might be a different story.
So what does the gain if we buy them? Yes, the hobby might suffer if 100's (or 1000's) of new chips are produced and sold as the "real thing". But without a hobby act that can protect our hobby, we just have to hope items like this don't end up in the wrong hands.
