Richard and Paul; This is an old topic that has been discussed on this bb before at quite length. I'm not about to define the term rare. I know rarity when I see it.... and I think that most chippers on this bb also know it when they see it. Rather than put an arbitrary number of chips that are thought to exist to determine rarity..... I think that most chippers would agree that recent $5 current LE's that routinely sell for double, triple, five times face value, from many sellers on this bb, can't hardly be considered "rare". Ebay sellers who put up "RARE" chips at opening bids of $9.99 or $14.99 and don't even get an opening bid certainly are not deserving of being described as "rare" at all. Wouldn't you agree with that position?? Mark Lighterman's analogy said it best: Buy them at the cage.... try to sell them as being rare ...... any that are left unsold after a week or so, cash these so-called
rare chips" back into the cage.
