NCR: Wireless Internet Options Question

I know there are alot of really smart people on the board and many many technologically advanced people as well (like those compliments??). Im in the San Diego area, I have ATT for the home phone which we dont even really use. I never use it, if I use the home phone 3 or 4 times a year its alot. My primary phone is my cell of course. Anyways, we also have our broadand service for the internet with ATT. My monthly bill is like 75.00 and thats insane, it breaks down to 25.00 for the broadband (which is ok with me), the basic service for the phone is like 42.00 and long distance which I dont need but was told to take it and they would lower the broadband fees is close to 5.00. With the rising gas prices and the way of the economy I am sick and tired of ATT and the 75 monthly bill. Im sure I can call them and get the broadband knocked down to about 15-20.00 a month, but I would love to just kiss the service goodbye. What options are out there or any suggestions on internet providers where I dont need the home phone. We live in an apartment complex here where we are forced to have directv as our sattelite cable provider since they are in cahoots with the apartment complex. Any ideas or suggestions?? I would love to stay clear of the directv as well if possible but I will call them out of curiosity. Any suggestions or ideas are greatly appreciated.

Have a great holiday weekend, stay safe.
