BUT.....
I haven't been to San Manuel since their new casino opened, but my experience was just the opposite. In their defense, they are the only Indian Casino in Southern CA that I know of that actually uses a LARGE portion of their money to benefeit the surrounding, formerly improverished community. They have bought and cleaned up many businesses in the area, employing both Indians and Whites. Other casinos further south are solely owned by a family "tribe" of six people and don't share a cent with anyone. Drive around many of these casinos and see how the surrounding Indians live....many are lucky to get one meal a day while the Chief and selected dew live like royality...hats off to San Manuel...
