I don't have a lot of high value chips, so keeping them in my room is not a problem, but I do put them in a drawerusually with items that would not attract attention.

I think Doug's question pre supposes your room is not at the riv. I have an advantage (or what used to appear to be an advantage), I use a scooter which has a basket. I know many chippers who aren't staying at the riv have haulers they drag around, but some also have buddies who are at the riv, and they use that room as a drop site.

Whatever you do, don't store them at the bottom of an elevator shaft, things do disappear from there.
