Re: NCR- non-chip of the day...Swizzle sticks! grin

1. swizzle:

OVERLAND BAR
Las Vegas, Nevada

Not listed in Fuller's Index or TGT
The Overland Bar is listed in the 1939 phone book, at 6 Fremont Street.

The Overland Hotel building is where the Las Vegas Club now stands. In 1939 the building housed the Overland Hotel, Overland Bar, Overland Drug and Overland Cafe.

2. Same as #1, but a different shade

3. swizzle:

SAL SAGEV TAVERN
Las Vegas, Nev.

Fuller's Index doesn't list the Sal Sagev.

TGT lists the Sal Sagev Casino at 1 Fremont St., owner Abe Miller. Gaming ended in 1934.

TGT also lists the Sal Sagev Hotel from 1906-1956.

The Sal Sagev was where the Golden Gate now stands. It was the first brick building constructed in Las Vegas, first opening as the Nevada Hotel in 1906.

4. swizzle:

PIOCHE CLUB

Fuller's index lists a Pioche Club, in Pioche, from 1951-1961, licensed for slots and 21.

TGT has the additional information that the club was owned by Jewel Alverson Jenson and Oral Jenson.

The 1939 phone book was no help whatsoever.

This was the "oddball" swizzle, as it doesn't appear to be from Las Vegas, and it doesn't appear to be from the 1939 era. Any thoughts?

Hope you enjoyed the swizzles... I think we struck "The Mother Lode"!! vbg
