We just approved the C.O.D. Casino last night for the Hellwinkle family and partners. It will be built within the C.O.D. garage named after Clarence Oliver Dangberg the founder of the town of Minden Nevada. His partner Mr. Hellwinkle took over in 1938 and the family still owns it today. It is located directly across from the Minden Inn, (former Minden Hotel with casino in 1957) and beside the Pony Express, (casino from 1955-1965). They plan to start with slot machines and a couple poker tables. Hopefully a few gaming tables will be included. There will also be a small museum with family and town history on display.
The Beverly Hillbilly casino, (which I didn't vote for but was approved 3-2 last year) is still dirt and financing is becoming even more difficult for Mr. Bear. Casino gaming is definately not recession proof and I hope both are successful......Doug
