"My home cash game ($2/$4) consisted of Paulson fantasy chips. So I decided to make it more "interesting" by investing in real casino poker chips. Since there are so many to chose from, I set some requirements to keep the entire set "similar". The set only includes white, $1, clay, Paulson chips from Nevada and Atlantic City casinos.
To summarize:
20 each: Las Vegas strip and downtown casinos
10 each: Atlantic City casinos
5 each: Las Vegas outlying casinos
1 each: old variations/out-of-business AC chips, old variations/oob LV chips, all other Nevada casinos - old and oob.
So, I've got the set up to 602 chips - most of them are in great shape (some never saw the tables in the casino). From what I've investigated, I'm not missing any - but I'm sure I am, I just don't know what they are (so if you can tell what chips I am missing, I'd love to know). Anyway, the set works well, as I usually have a table of 9 people and they start off with $65.
And, for the rebuys, I also added to the set with $5 Las Vegas casino chips from casinos that I don't have $1 chips for, along with Paulson $5 fantasy chips."
So, what looks like a good starter collection set to most of us, is actually a playable, home poker set for this person. And while I suggested not using some of the older Atlantic City chips, his home games are with family and are not that demanding on the chips.
