The chip you show was made by RTP. It has quite rounded edges. The Dolphin chips have very sharp edges.
May not be exact by JH started using Matsui in South Africa and the US in about September 2005. They made a joint 'product launch' at the G2E expo. I was there. By chance I sat next to a JH exec on the plane ride over.
They continued to use Dolphin for the rest of the world until about 6 months ago (by which time they owned Dolphin anyway).
The Dolphin machinery was not geared up to produce RFID embedded chips. They felt they could not compete with GPI even if they threw tons of money at it so they went with the new Matsui RFID chips.
As I said, they still use the Dolphin factory for roulette chips and low denom non-RFID.
