I was recently asked about my opinions on several matters about the problems with the club and the upcoming convention.
Let me start off by saying that the BOD and its staff are doing the best they can to address all concerns and problems addressed to them. This is a tough task to deal with and this question should give everyone a better understanding of their difficult and often hard decisions to make to make all parties happy.
Regarding the convention.. Would you rather have 500 people attend and spend $100,000.00 or 1500 people and spend the same amount.
My answer is 1500. Why? The more people that attend might mean less money spent per person but solidifies the club is not in total decline. Although spending might be down from past conventions due to the economy (stock market, real estate, higher prices for travel, hotel etc..) it is the membership and the vendors who make the convention a possibility. If you remove one of these parties from the convention you ultimately lose it.
I was pleasently suprised that the BOD brought back the Wendesday trade session after the uproar it brought. I personally like and have attended the wendesday trade session the past 2 years and met alot of nice people there as well as made some great trades. But if the wendesday trade session was not reinsteated and the people that were unhappy stuck to their guns and stated they would not attend the convention or purchase as many chips from the vendors beacuse of this who ultimately would be the victims here. It would be those people as well as the rest of the club... Why... No members, no vendors....
NO CONVENTION
I know I am not a popular person on here for giving my opinions but I feel that this needed to be addressed. I beleive that the BOD has our best interest in hand. But just as the saying goes "it is impossible to make everyone happy."
