Who has said that?
Several times you've made similar comments, but I don't remember anyone actually making that claim.
I, for one, have said that the cancellation of a chip is part of a chip's history, and should not be removed. (Whether that removal is filling in a drill hole or "cleaning" off a cancellation mark).
I also feel, personally, that cigarette burns are part of the history of the chip, and I choose not to remove them...since removing the burn also removes a layer of the chip. (Personally, I see that as a 'modification'.)
Not everyone cleans their chips, but who says that the dirt/grunge adds historical value?
