Oh boy.......I've gone & done it now....<g> Just over a week ago I was asked by this mutual friend of Gene & myself if I wanted the same chip. I immediately responded "yes". In retrospect, I gave no thought what-so-ever to refusing the offer because of my personal feelings for this traitor & *%$#!>?*%##!!. (I too came from the Viet Nam era, volunteered for service even though my draft # was 232, had several of my friends killed there & was slated for a tour there myself when the war came to an abrupt halt.) The only thing that came to my mind was that this is a person that has some historical significance, and as an autograph chip collector it would be a welcomed addition to my collection. Knowing Gene, I would venture to believe he felt basically the same way. If I had a scanner would I have posted it to the board? Probably so. Emotionally, what would be the appropriate thing to do with the chip? Probably throw it in the urinal at my local American Legion hall. But as an autograph chip collector, this gift from a good-hearted friend will stay in my collection, with thanks. Where will I eventually put it? I'll probably place it in a box for 2 marked "Great Amerikans" with the other space reserved for Bill Clinton. <g> Now........back to really important stuff... getting my ChequeTV column ready for this week. <bg>
