Your story of having to wait all day reminds me of when I had an appendectomy 10 years ago. I came into the hospital through the ER in the middle of the night around 2:00 AM, was checked over, admitted, taken to my room, and then I waited around all the next day with what turns out was a ruptured appendix. I was supposed to have gone in for surgery in the morning but it wasn't until about 6:30 PM before they "worked me in!"
