Tom, there is a jurisdiction issue here. NJ can call them anything they want, but the items are in Mississippi and Mississippi LAw applies. The chips are certainly "found property", but the question is what do the finders have an obligation to do? In this case it may have been law enforcement who were effectively the finders, and in most jurisdictions they're required to turn in found property. All this has the promise of being very entertaining from my perspective.
