I started off collecting $1 chips from Vegas; after several changes in focus, I now collect $20 chips from Nevada and Atlantic City.
2. How many chips, etc. do you have?
After accumulating 4-5 boxes of chips that I had collected but never looked at, I have decided to limit myself generally to the ~380 that I can fit into the cases on the walls of my game room. Most of what I've migrated off the walls I have either sold or are targeting to sell. This 'fixed universe' philosophy also keeps me in good with the Mrs.
I also have loads of chips that I use in my (now once per quarter) poker games-- either the 'Casino de Isthmus' Paulsons or the 'Casino Royale' Carta Mundi chips.
3. How long have you been collecting?
About 5 years. I remember a trip to Vegas where I met Mike Spinetti and he took me into his chip vault. I was hooked! He's also the one who pointed me to the Chip Board and the CC & GT CC.
4. What got you started in collecting?
I have been on and off in coins since I was a cub scout. I remembered I stumbled onto chips while searching eBay one day, and I thought it was VERY cool. Took me a year or two (and getting a house) to finally take the plunge. Since getting married (and now with a baby girl) I have been less buy-everything-I-see, but I still like to dabble here and there.
