I'd like to thank Brian for all of his help...and for being the initial inspiration to actually write the articles! We don't have a computer online, and we don't have a scanner, so for every article I sent Brian a box of postcards, matchbook covers, brochures, cards, etc. and he scanned everything and sent it to Allan. He also scanned his own chips for the articles. Then he burnt cd's of everything, which he sent to me when he returned the stuff, and he kept a cd for himself, and I think he sent one to Allan, too. Thanks, Mr. Splashbar...I couldn't have done it without you!
Back to your question; I'm sorry to admit that, other than the $10 playing cards, we did not pay for the stuff from the Dunes . (The statute of limitations has run out...hasn't it???!) I really do think that we preserved some history, because I don't think too many people would have run around prying signs off the walls ! I suspect that they would have been imploded with the building...
Here's some that didn't make the article...
The slot club sign is in its original plexiglass 'frame', that and the next two were the transparencies behind the counter in the Oasis casino. Might have been a place to sign up for the slot tourneys?
The two renderings of casinos were supposed to be the main casino and the Oasis casino. I know that because one had a nametag that said Main Casino, the other had a nametag that said Oasis Casino (we do have the nametags ) . Unfortunately, I no longer know which was which . Those two were mounted under the same type of plexiglass 'frame' as the slot tournament sign. As a rookie, I didn't know any better, so I cut them down to fit into frames that I had on hand...ouch!
