If you live in the south, you may occasionally get those nasty "wood roaches" that sneak under your garage door and scare the bejesus out of you when you go out into the garage at night...ick!
Around here, the wood roaches are good sized and although they aren't the standard type that hunt your garbage can down - they're still nasty!
Anyway the news program is touting that this idea is more effective than sprays, traps, etc and is completely safe for your pets and children, to say nothing of the environment.
And it's darn near FREE!
Take any clean GLASS jar with sides 6 inches or higher...
Put your used coffee grounds in it...
Add enough tap water to cover the grounds.....
Put the coffee/jar next to a wall and put the jar lid underneath to tilt the jar against the wall(so the buggies can climb up the wall and into the glass jar) or wrap the outside with masking tape (to give them a way up the outside of the jar)..
Once they get to the top of the jar, they will happily swan-dive into the jar....and can't climb back up the insides of the slippery glass jar....and subsequently, drown in the soupy mess.
According to the news report, the roaches go crazy for the smell and moisture of coffee grounds.

There is also a video clip link above the picture of the nasty roach...
I would imagine this may work for several other types of 8 legged nuisances as well...
With the warm summer coming, I'll put one outside and just see what I catch....With my luck it will be our 4 lb. Chihuahua!
