Wes,I have been collecting matches for over 35 years since I was a kid. I still have some matches from that time with all matches inside. I do prefer to take the matches out only because you can display the covers better in plastic sleeves and binders. Plus it is less bulky when the matches are taken out. Most experienced old time collectors prefer them "matchless",although there are some who like them full. Your choice...either way is fine....HOWEVER....the matches do deteriorate with time and the heads will cause the inside of the books to discolor and some of the inside ads are kinda neat so you will not want to wreck them,PLUS...if there are old staples in there,they can rust and also wreck your cover.
No matter what...have fun with them.
