Paul, I would agree that the seller's action was wrong and should be corrected.

Just to protect your position, you may want to snap a "screen shot" of the Ebay page with your auction, including the image of the chip (and/or print out a color copy of the page.) Otherwise, the seller can take down his/her posted image, and it would be harder to prove that the chip received vs. the auction chip was different.

So far, the ChipBoard "court of public opinion" is unanimous on your side.
