Shaun, in Australia we have the ACCC (Australian Competition & Consumer Commission). Their sole role is a watchdog to prevent anti-competative behaviour, monopolies and false or misleading advertising by businesses in Australia. Should a company be found to be in breach then some huge fines get handed down. Now with ebay being as big as they are and everyone here knowing what the ACCC are like, I wouldn't think they'd implement this without knowing if it was going to blow up in their faces.

Now I know everyone bags ebay in regards to fees & such, but come on, someone was smart enough to get it from nothing to where it is today, and with almost no competition at all. Without it there'd be a whole lot of chippers missing a whole lot of chips from their collections. And with someone asking the question regarding the hobby waning & someone responding they thought it would be bigger by now, imagine the hobby & membership without ebay!! With a tool as easy to use & with a market reach as big as ebay has you have to expect to pay for the privlige.

But I guess it's like Bill & Microsoft. He invents a product that most of the civilised world uses everyday & now most couldn't do without and yet he and his products are mercilessly & relentlessly condemned . Maybe more people would strive for bigger & better things in their lives if they thought there was a chance they wouldn't be shot down in flames on the way. JMHO
