As I have learned any pennies before and including 1982. Those are all copper and not mixed with the zinc. I was shown this past weekend that a cup of cheap vinegar and a dab of salt mixed together. Then you put in your tarnished penny. Watch it for about 30 seconds and it will shine up. it is a dull shine and now to make it almost a mint shine again you take a tiny dab of baking soda with a tooth brush and brush it. Rinse it and there you go, a penny ready for squishing. This is for the hard core squishier.
