POST HISTORY

Travis Snow Post 5 was formed in 1919. The Post is named for Private Travis L. Snow who grew up in the Torrington area. He was a member of the U.S. Army, 363rd Infantry Regiment, 91st Division. He was killed September 30, 1918 during the battle at the Meuse-Argonne in France. He is buried in Plot E Row 42 Grave 22 in the Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery in Romangne, France.

The Post was Chartered on October 29, 1920; with the Post Home being built in 1930 on land donated by the parents of Travis Snow.

The Charter members were George D. Anderson; Merle Barbee; Alvin O. Bloedorn; Walter E. Callaham; Mark F. Dalley; Ernest H. Duff; Merle A. Eaton; T.C. Fitzgerald; Winfred M. Koenig; Richard A. Maude; Joseph M. Roushar; Ferne M. Schamalle; Guy A. Schroeder; G.P Talbert and Harry M. Waddell.
