Wayne, Kodak has a helpful website about their digital cameras. The link is:

I think the camera you describe is a good one, along with the DC290 model (Though I don't own a digital camera yet.) Having a capacity of 2 megapixels gives you enough detail to capture and print a decent picture at decent size (up to 8x10).
The storage capacity for your camera is one consideration. Kodak, and most others, use specialized cartridges to capture the electronic images. Once you download the images to your computer, it's reusable, but if you plan to take many pictures on a vacation, you will need to buy extra cartridges (like buying extra rolls of film).
The Sony Mavika uses standard floppy disks for image storage, which are very cheap. Some folks like the Sony for that reason.
Also, make sure that the camera you get has compatible cabling to connect to your computer so you can download your pictures easily and at reasonably fast speed. This can be a headache and time-bottleneck in some set-ups.
Hope that helps.
