CASINO MUNICIPAL CAMPIONE - ITALIA

Though located within Italy (on Lago Lugano), the
casino currency is Swiss franc (SF). The casino has
been there since the early-30s.

There is a lot of lost history concerning Italy's
casinos of post-WWII. There are so many chips and
plaques of both plastic laminate and Mother-of-Pearl
that cannot be attributed.

With the efforts to get tourism rolling again in
1945-46, Italy wanted to make up for lost time,
especially to compete with its rivals on the other
side of the border. During that time directly after
the war, casinos with all sorts of licenses and
"authorizations" had been springing up all over the
place, of which most had very little technical or
financial power. Within a year's time most had been
closed by the central government and only a few were
permitted to continue operating.
