...I'm not very interested in what you imagine is happening to the folks that actually do live there. They can speak up for themselves. Ditto if you suddenly want to channel for the dealers, convention voluteers or elected officers.

Fact is, the club members who do buy rooms at the Riv help subsidise the use of Riviera facilities for convention goers that stay elsewhere. I've never heard a bad reason for staying somewhere else be it expense, comfort, player points or local residency. This year however, the club has found itself in a predicament that can be helped by putting more collectors in Riviera rooms. Participate this year and benefit next year.

Penalty? Ridiculous. Club members can still stay elsewhere and reap the benenfits from doing so. Who gets penalized? The Club.
