Re: Seemed like the obvious thing to do

It was very easy to set up. The transfer took awhile, but not excessively long. I then uploaded about 100 songs, just to see if they went to the new location. I had read an article from 2005 that talked about problems with newly uploaded files so I wanted to see if I would have that problem. The songs loaded easily. I then turned off itunes, and after a short interval, opened itunes again. All of my songs were there, including the newly uploaded songs. All of my playlists, check marks, etc. were preserved. So far, so good! vbg Maybe Apple fixed the glitches that were causing the problems before. I read that itunes would open new local files, instead of sending files to the external drive. When that happens, all you see is the newly loaded files and none of the old ones. The fix is to go into edit/preferences/advanced and re-set the destination to the external drive. Not too hard. In any case, it hasn't happened yet. I am hoping it won't.

I hope this helps, Craig.
