That being said, there has always been a vibe here that I don't like. When someone outside the loop questions the status quo, there seems to be folks jumping over themselves to rip the person raising the question. It amounts to "here is the way we do it here, speak against it, at your own peril". I think that is B.S. There is almost always a better way to do things. The world is changing at an incredible pace. Because our hobby is focused on nostalgia, I get the sense that there will always be resistance to change and questions about why we do things and how we operate ("..we do it because this is the way WE have ALWAYS done it"). I don't think it is helpful to be so stuck in your ways that you can't accept or tolerate an opposing view or critique.
I agree that the volunteers on the BOD and committees work hard, but it is just plain old good business common sense. If someone is looking to become a member or renew a membership, their questions/problems etc. need to be handled promptly, before they put it off for another day that never comes.
That is all I am saying.......
