It's been a while since I've made a post, so I wanted to post an update and say hello.
Last October, I made a decision to move home to Texas with the goal of being here by Thanksgiving. I did it, but it caused a very rushed and hectic move. The rush rush of the move, along with a series of other things, caused one problem after another after another. I couldn't take the time to get the problems solved because the Indian casino job that was supposed to work me four days a week was working me five and six days a week. That meant that all I had time to do after the four hour commute to my house on my day(s) off was fill orders. I wasn't getting anywhere and that wasn't part of the plan. After all, the reason I left Las Vegas was to have less stress in my life!
I quit the casino job just a couple of days before the Super Collectables Show and since then I've been getting caught up on listing new issues and getting orders shipped. By Monday, I will be caught up (if all goes well)!
Once I'm caught up from the recent rush of new releases, I'll begin listing older chips. I'll start with a nice selection of chips from Binion's Horseshoe from back in the day when fellow Texan Benny Binion ran the place.
I have received numerous questions along the lines of "Why in the hell did you move to Texas?" I've tried to explain to most everybody that it was time to come home. Twenty years in Las Vegas was a great chapter, but I was ready for a new adventure. Some of the things I left behind are the daily sounds of a police helicopter flying over my house, beggars asking me for money several times a day, non-stop police, ambulance and fire sirens, car crashes, pedestrians getting run over, and overall horrible traffic. On the other hand, I now sit at my desk looking out the window into my front yard and regularly watch the deer walk by, the squirrels fly from tree to tree, and the woodpeckers stop by. At night, it gets pitch black and I sleep the entire night without hearing the gangbangers drag race down the city streets.
But I think it can be better explained by reading a story that I posted nearly six years ago. This story has never left my mind since the day I made the post titled "The Rat Race Explained". See the link below titled "Better Now that Later". I decided I should do something about it now instead of waiting until it was too late.
I hope you enjoy the story and understand where I'm coming from and why I moved.
