Thanks. You may know all this but since you were asking about re-stamped chips, here's what I'm thinking. When a chip manufacturer starts a new hotstamp run they will often test their settings on extra chips they have on hand. Overstock chips, returns etc. They can then test stamp to see if pressure, temperature or foil is set for a successful run and then proceed with stamping new blanks. Same method for checking a new stamping die. They usually discard the test pieces. Also known in the hobby as "floor sweepers". Sometimes the manufacturers
will overstamp chips to meet cancellation regs but my observation is that they will use an obvious method like a large spiral or perhaps a "ncv" or similar desigantion. I'd still venture to say that you don't see a TR King floorsweeper very often. Here's some Taylor & Co. floorsweepers on a couple of tasty Stardust faro chips. I saw a set of good faro chips go off for $$$ the other day. These are worth a buck or two.
