I too wish the casinos used denominational chips or jetons like the Paris does, and the MGM did (didn't know about that table when the game was being offered at the Grand, and the table at the Paris is same table formerly used at the Grand.)
I can however understand the reason for low limit roulette games using non-denominational chips. There isn't enough room on the table to accomodate the number of chips required for every color of every denomination.
The way it looks to me is, they can only use chips that have a denomination imprinted on them in higher limit games, or they have to limit the number of players in low limit games to fewer than available now and at the same time increase the number of employees working the table (like they have to do at the Paris anyway, given that if there are more than three people playing, at least two will be playing with the same lower denomination jetons.) These options would cut into casino profits, and I just don't see that happening.
