Today’s note comes from the island of Curacao; the largest of the Netherlands Antilles which is autonomous part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands is located 40 miles off the coast of Venezuela. The island is the largest and most populous of the three so-called ABC islands (for Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao) of the Lesser Antilles The reason this note was selected for Valentine’s Day is because its name was derived from the Portuguese word for 'Heart'.

The note is a 1942 issue of a 1 Gulden. (Front) Red Mercury seated between ships at center. (Back) National Arms are at center flanked by the denominations in ornate design. This not was printed by American Bank Note Co (ABNC). It contains no security thread or UV coding. Since this note is in ‘Very Good’ condition it has a book value of $20.00. ENJOY!!
