... and the winners will be ...

... assuming there are no other emails to come ...

1st --- Steve Zacchi $12.40 with winning time of 2:02.56 (off by 1.44 seconds)
2nd --- Diane Myers $12.40 with winning time of 2:02.80 (off by 1.68 seconds)
3rd --- Unbeliebably, a TIE between:
------- Peter Sanders $6.60 with winning time of 2:02.40
------- Allan Myers $6.60 with winning time of 2:02.40

It NEVER occurred to me that two people would pick the same time, much less two people who also had the same winning payoff. Actually, Diane Myers also had a winning time of 2:02.40 on her second entry, so three people picked the exact same winning time.

Two of the four winners (Allan and Diane) live in Kentucky. Coincidence?

There were 17 entries. I added an additional chip to make 18. Therefore, the prize distribution should be 9 chips to 1st, 6 chips to 2nd and 3 chips to 3rd. With a tie for third, I'll add another chip so that each gets two.

Once the results are official (tomorrow), I'll provide instructions of which chips should be sent where. Based on my own assumption that even the winners would rather have new chips than the ones they offered for the pool, I'll assign each winner to send his/her entry chip to one of the other winners, rather than to him or herself.

The four entrants who had no horses in the money are ranked in order of the total of the finishing places of their horses. Diane's second entry [4+8+14] and Jim Episale [2+11+13] each totalled 26; Bob Orme had 9+14+15 = 38; and John Zoesch brought up the rear with 9+15+17 = 41.

I have added another chip to the pool as a booby prize for John. <g>

Finally, closest time to the actual winning time was predicted by Michael Richter at 2:01.35, only .23 seconds off Fusaichi Pegasus' actual time of 2:01.12.

I added a final chip to the pool as a special prize for Michael.

IF ANYONE SENT AN ENTRY THAT DOES NOT APPEAR ON THE RESULTS LIST, PLEASE POST A MESSAGE HERE AND RE-SEND YOUR ENTRY BY FORWARDING THE ORIGINAL EMAIL.
