Re: Politics Today
In Response To: Politics Today ()

Gene, I am in the same boat as you, being semi retired and at a loss to find any candidate above the rest. I do however find it strange that most republicans (conservatives) love to present, or believe, the democrats as the "tax and spend party" when in fact, the last time we had a balanced budget was under a democrat. Bush has increased the national debt by nearly 50%. In fact, since 1945 Republican Presidents have increased the national dept by an average of 9.7% per year. The Democratic Presidents have increased the national debt by an average of 3.2% per yr. The link for my figures is http://www.cedarcomm.com/~stevelm1/usdebt.htm for those that care to look. It is clearly not the democrats that spend us into oblivion but the Rebublicans by a 3 to 1 ratio. If anyone is looking for fiscal responsibility, it's not the Rebublicans.
