Better, older chips do occasionally surface, which is not necessarily a bad thing for the hobby. It makes previously unattainable chips available, and keeps the interest levels high for the hobby in general. I have been collecting for over 20 years and I am still looking for a few precious "gems" for my Tahoe collection, chips that are seldom, or never, seen available for sale. It's a great day when one becomes available! And yes, it will also occasionally mean that a formerly very rare chip decreases in value, but compare that to the vast numbers of chips that continue to increase in value each year because they are more and more scarce, and I believe it is a fair trade-off.
