I’m not sure if you expected a reply. But I thought I would respond to your comments.
I am not the biggest fan of eBay either. Yet as a collector, I find it the necessary of all evil as one more source to add to my collection.
I have no issue with what sellers use in their descriptions unless they are out and out fraudulent. I only made the reference and insinuation that because the latest identification and suggested price guide is three years old, it doesn’t mean one is buying below market price.
I continue to believe that most sales prices are below guide quotes. I also believe that on occasion prices are above guide quotes. I am guilty (if that is the right word) of paying over book for something that would complete or add to what I need. Sometimes you look for years for a chips and when it finally comes along, you just throw in the towel and pay what you have to, to fill the hole.
Like you I look forward to new editions and publications. Those are things that will help the hobby. And because I don’t consider myself a dealer, rather a collector, I hope realization is utilized rather than hype.
