I think there are more snipers than non snipers, with the vast majority being club members. Sniping is actually a necessary evil. There are nefarious characters out there (vbg) who actually keep track of what I bid on. I, myself, have about 8 to 10 chippers' auctions bookmarked. These are people with similar interest to mine.
