The same so called scientists that are now marketing global warming, were originally selling global cooling and a new ice age. That one didn't take, so they changed their scare tactics to warming.
If it starts a new trend towards cooler, they will change to, why the warming is causing and ice age. Very flexible as long as they can scare people, create fears, serve their agenda, get research grants and make money doing it.
The gloom and doom pundits predicted worse storms, more storms, more hurricanes, after Katrine. "Next year will be the worst ever." Then what happened the next year? Oops, not one major storm made landfall.
So when it serves the purposes, one bad storm or one bad year, is a sign that we're Doomed Doomed I tell you! But a good year following it, means, "it was just one unusual year".
Looking outside right now, in the Middle-West, where I've lived my whole life, global warming would be a good thing! 
No matter which side someone prefers to "believe in" (because we really don't know for sure, and that's the truth) anecdotal evidence for either persuasion or political view, has no validity.
Weather changes, it has for millions of years. Anyone who thinks we can control that, is really in for a challenge. Man against the forces of nature, the Earth and some changes caused by the Sun itself.
We really don't know... Honest!
