I can, however, understand both sides of the argument, as I also sell.
why do I snipe?
1) My sniping is purely a result of my financial state. Ok, say I see something I want. the item is worth $100...but I only have $80. if I out in the 80 right off, I'm sure NOT to win the item. On the other hand, If I wait and watch, sometimes the item stays at a very low price....until the last second. at that point, my $80 is alot stronger. I wish I could afford to not do this, but I have to If I ever want to win any auctions on my budget.
B) like it or not, SOME sellers shill, which is a hell of alot worse, and sniping is the buyers only way to keep from getting shilled.
3)I ONLY sipe in person. I DO NOT USE SOFTWARE! (software sniping is just dirty)
As Ebay does everything in thier power to hide/protect shillers and shilling, its only fair that they dont try to stop sniping.
HOWEVER, the possibilite of an option for seller to make thier auction end semi blind (ends whithin a specified timeframe, ex: "auction will end sometime between 4:00pm and 5:00pm pacific standard time" might not be a bad idea. leave it up to the seller to decide(ofcourse they'll charge an extra fee for it though)
