However, the issue was/is what is fair to the consignor when folks in the back of the room are into what amounts to bid rigging? Bidder "A" says to bidder "B", "C", "D", "I'll lay off lots X, Y & Z, if you guys will lay off lots A, B & C" And then a few years down the road the same people complain about the lack of quality high-end lots in the club auction because the high-end consignor doesn't want to get burned again..., and again.
