I don't think most people stand back and wait. Feedback is everything. If you can see what feedback they have, what level rating the buyers or sellers have so far, what the feedback they say and get left for them say...that makes a difference. This guy's feedback has red flags all over it. I haven't sold for awhile, but I always stated a bidder must have a feedback rating of over 30 to win my auctions. A seller has to protect their 100% ratings however they must. A new bidder/seller like this without any sense of ebay etiquette can kill that hard work overnight. I let others take chances. I try to be more selective.
