This BB was started by Greg Susong as a web based place for collectors to gather back in the days when firewalled in-system message boards were what the internet was in the earlier days. This particular forum was spawned by the Collectors BB on Prodigy. When Prodigy saw the light to go web-based, they also started closing their in house firewalled BB systems. Back then, Prodigy and at least one other ISP (CompuServe) required real names as screen names to participate in their forums. Following that pattern to this forum was natural to the large majority of early participants, and it has remained somewhat of a standard practice in this forum today. Due to a number of instances over the last ten years that involved first name only or pseudonym troll postings that were anonymous personal attacks on the regular users of this forum, some of us regulars not only won't respond to a first name only or unknown pseudonym, we won't bother with clicking on messages posted in this manner. I won't. Too often in the past, it was a waste of time. It doesn't take much of a look here to see that the place is real people posting with their real names. Following that example will not only get your posts read by more people, you'll likely get the info you are looking for, and even more likely, will make some new friends.
